Hi all,

It’s been a bit since I’ve written; we have had some turbulence at AO HQ. I’ve encountered two losses — my stepmother Peggy (who outlived my father for just over a year) and my beloved cat Max (at the ripe age of 21) — as well as a few lingering health issues related to my earlier bout with COVID. But I do think things are turning the corner.

I hope that you all are safe and well, as we ride together through the next few bumpy weeks, towards the new epoch of 2021.

There’s a New Moon Solar Eclipse coming up on Monday, December 14 at 11:16 AM Eastern US time. The ultra-intense series of conjunctions (Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto, oh my!) that you and I and everybody else have been living with all year, are finally beginning to abate.

There’s just one more conjunction in the series. Saturn and Jupiter will meet on December 21 — not in Capricorn, as the other Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto conjunctions of 2020 were, but at 0 degrees, 29 minutes Aquarius. Jupiter and Saturn align just once every 20 years, and they have not met together in Aquarius since 1226.

Capricorn is of course an Earth sign; it likes to ruminate and burrow. Aquarius is Air, movement, connection. And one of the analogies I’ve been using for the energy all year is the caterpillar’s metamorphosis. Well, now that Saturn and Jupiter are on the point of leaving Cap for Aquarius, we’re all coming out of our chrysalises, getting ready to shake our wings and fly.

This Monday’s Eclipse is when you burst free of your cocoon. Then, with the following Monday’s conjunction, you’ll begin your first flying lessons.

Hatching’s not easy however. We know that even healthy and positive change creates stress. Whatever you find shattering inside or around you this week, trust that it is part of the process of your becoming free. Or as Leonard Cohen expressed it:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

The birds they sing, at the break of day
Start again, I heard them say.
Don’t dwell on what has passed away
Or what is yet to be.

Sagittarius season is of course upon us, the season of twinkle-lights and jollity. Let your own light shine too, despite any mess or fog. The Sun formed a hard square to Neptune last Wednesday the 9th, and Mercury will follow suit on Sunday the 13th, which impairs our ability to see and reason clearly. No, you aren’t losing your mind; you’ll feel more grounded next week.

For now it’s enough to keep breathing, poke a little bit at your shell, and give grace to everyone around you.

I’m holding a webinar on Sunday, December 13 [UPDATE: purchase the recordings here], during which I’ll talk more about Monday’s New Moon Eclipse as well as the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction. Please join me if you can.

Big hugs,
